Al-Ma’had al-Ilmi ath-Thanawi (4 Years Program)
The educational system of Al-Ma’had al-Ilmi ath-Thanawi comprises a period of four years. Instruction at the institute is conducted entirely in the Arabic language. This stage represents the secondary level of Shari‘ah education, during which students are formally trained in the core Islamic sciences.
The curriculum includes the study of:
• Tawhid (Islamic Monotheism)
• Tafsir (Qur’anic Exegesis)
• Hadith
• Balaghah (Arabic Rhetoric)
• Arabic Literature (Adab)
• Ilm al-Mirath (Islamic Law of Inheritance)
• Islamic History
• Comparative Study of Sects (Ilm al-Firaq)
• Ulum al-Qur’an
• Mustalah al-Hadith
• Usul al-Fiqh
• Sirah (Biography of the Prophet ﷺ)
• Arabic Composition and Writing (Insha’)
• And other related Islamic and Arabic disciplines

Upon successful completion of the four-year Thanawiyah program, the student is awarded an official certificate (Sanad). This certificate is recognized and affiliated with leading universities in Saudi Arabia and the wider Muslim world, enabling graduates to seek admission to these institutions.
In particular, this certificate is affiliated with renowned universities such as the
Islamic University of Madinah
Umm al-Qura University Makkah
Imam Muhammad bin Saud University Riyadh
King Saud University Riyadh
and other universities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Each year, approximately 25 to 40 graduates holding the Thanawiyah Rabi‘ah certificate of the Jamia secure admission to various Saudi universities.
